As Jens precisely stated : Don't try to clean them, this will ruin them.
Perhaps oiling would be fine, not the wooden sticks though !

But nothing more, please.....

They were in their original wooden box (I got back it but not in good condition) buried under the ground of a old building in ruin.

do you say by this that you didn't get the Nb-handgrenades themselves ?
Did you have to hand them over to the Police or disposal-team ?
I do hope this is NOT the case - I really hope for you that you still have them !?

No problem if the box is in bad condition, but NbHgr39 grenades in wood box is very rare, they always went in metal cases. For this we would like to see that box.
