Gentlemen,
last week I received a phone call from a person who I got to know via a wanted ad in my local paper.
I got some nice WW2 items from him earlier.
He found some more, he told me and I went to his house yesterday.
Two Flak 88 shells were waiting there for me.
The man found them walking his dog, 300m from his house on a field, 3 years ago.
As it turned out, there was Flak at that spot and some construction work must have stired them up.
Cleaning the brass shells, I found the usual markings.
The one is a Polte of 1936.
BUT, the other shell is dated 1917(!), Patronenfabrik Karlsruhe.
Was WW1 dated ammo used in a WW2 Flak 88?
Pics will follow tomorrow...
Thanks in advance,
taube.
