8,8 shell question´s

Hi.

Just get in this two 8,8 shell´s from Finland one brass and one steel. On the brass shell only have the engraving/text 24 , P , 1938 WaA 408 and 6347.
There is no engraving / text type 88 - Flak and year. Is it common that this engraving / text missing on the shell ?

Yes, as the Fins re-use the cases each time they are fired the case will deform slightly so the base is lightly machined on a lathe. The more times they are refurbished the more the head stamps disappear. Normally you will find small punch marks that will tell how many times it has been fired. If you remove the grey paint you may still find a faint head stamp.

Thank You, I will try to take the grey paint away. There is to small punch mark in the bottom of the grey shell.
