    WWI artillery shells

    I'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread...if not, can the moderator please move it to the correct location.

    In our local museum, they have a wicker shell carrier and three shells. I am trying (with your assistance) to help them properly identify the items in their collection. Can anyone provide any more information on these items?

    (I apologize for the blurry photos)

    First up is the shell carrier, which I believe is WWI from Germany.

        This is a 1917 dated shell marked Karlsruhe. What type of shell is this one?

            Is this a US shell? It says Remington on the base.

              Hi there, your wicker carrier looks much like mine. Mine is for the German 77mm shells, yours probably is as well. The two shorter shell cases you have are german 77mm. The taller is an American made 75mm shell case for the French field gun.
