    German Mine Fuzes...Live?

    Hello all,
I ave no experience with these but suspect they are live. Can anyone confirm with these photos? If still hot, are they mailable/shippable? Any ball park values would be appreciated.
    Thanks, C.

A bit difficult to tell with out dismantling, which is difficult to do as the cap section is pinned and there is a posibility that you could damage them.
The caps if they are live are similar to a shotgun primer, i would remove the shipping caps, remove the pins and fire them off in a safe manner (not pointing at anyone etc), if nothing happens and they just push down then they are already fired. You will find that the igniters will stay the same in shape when fired or not. as they spring back so you can refit the safety pins. you may have a problem with the DZ35 as it has a much stonger presure spring but can easily be over come. As for price about £20 each ball park. Fired off they are shippable but that depends on where you ship them. Hope this helps, PM me if you have problems firing the off or are not sure.

Leftside one is for S.Mi35 and it is mechanical spring powered,it includes also the percussion cap.You can open the lower housing and see if the cap is still inside. You will see it also from the bottom,if you remove the bakelite cap from the bottom.Type is S.Mi.Z.35(S.Minen Zünder 35)

Rightside one is called Druckzünder 35 A and it is also mechanical spring loaded antitank mine fuze. This type have percussion cap inside, which contains some chemicals. All examples i have seen have lost its chemicals from the cap. They get dry and lost the material inside cap as yellow powder.

              Thanks everyone, for your help.
Jiipee, excellent information. I will try to get the caps off and see what is left inside. The bakelite is threaded, for sure. Is the other one as well?
              Thanks again. C.

Both fuze types have threads.Bakelite cap on S.Mine fuze and brass cap on other fuze.

I have studied a little about these items and percussion caps(primers) were filled with quicksilver mixed with other explosive compound. So the yellow powder is not very healthy. It was very common substance in german weaponry at wartime.
