What the heck is this grenade? ?

    Hello Gentlemen:

can anybody shed any light on this? The head is a citron-foug but what is the rest of it?

Mmm well obviously it resembles the early british No 1 grenades with the streamer attached to the handle. But from the little I know about this grenade the fuse was ignited by the striker being well, struck, where as in this configuration the fuse would have to be ignited by being pulled. I await the experts opinions with interest.

In fact having thought about it a bit more, the streamers were used to ensure that the No 1 grenade landed on the percussion fuse, this has not got a percussion fuse so why bother with the streamers?

I don't know about the grenade but the wood and paint are very similar to the handle of a West German Army entrenching tool while the streamers look exactly the same as those backstraps on Chicom chestrigs, same weight, pattern and fabric.
