    US bazooka rockets

    Hi guys

I found a few of these al in the same area. It seemes most of them exploded during forrest fires. However, I am concerned they may still be dangerous, because of the main charge, or because of the propeling charge...
    What do you guys think?
The head is almost completely empty. I am not sure about the tails though.
I am curious about why there is a piece of wire on the fins of both rockets, what is this for?

    Jean-Loup,

The Bazooka rockets were fired via electrical ignition. Thus, I believe the wire you ask about is the lead for the electrical ignitor in the rocket's motor. When the round was inserted into the Bazooka for firing, this wire would have been clipped to a wire coming from the Bazooka's trigger. Pressing the trigger sent an electrical charge to ignite the rocket motor.

Thanks for the info guys. I am surprised the wire is put on in such a nonchalant way.

The head visible in the picture was quite light, but still clearly had something inside it. I figured that it may in fact be intact, since it is a hollow charge, so I put it somewhere where nobody will go looking for it. I left the tails in my back yard for now, but will also get rid of them. There is no need taking risks for some rusty and unfired rockets.
