    Armour Piercing Shell

    I picked this up at a yard sale thinking it is an artillery shell. I am assuming it is either WWI or WWII. I think it is European, maybe German, because of the European style characters. Well I will leave that for you guys to dsetermine. First I will describe it. It has a diameter of about 2 and 1/4 inches. Height is almost 7 inches. It is solid metal. Like 6 pounds. On the bottom it is marked C and below that it is marked 4 in a circle. Also on the side of the shell it is marked 6P (under it is LO or LQ) and also 3 on a different part. ANy ideas concerning age and country of origin?

    I bet its a 6 pounder cannon round... at least im guessing that becasue the "6P" marked on it

      Hi there, as suggested it is a 6pdr shell. British, probably around about WW2 vintage. Where you think it says LO or LQ it will actually say LOT followed by a number, ie the lot number of the production run. It is minus its driving band and looks to have been painted gold. If you look really carefully you may find a date somewhere.
