German M24 Stick grenade - some questions!

    Hi guys,

this is my first post in this forum, and i would like to show you my grenade, I have some issues with it, and i just would like to have it confirmed. I compared it to my mates he has a few and the fuse end wont screw into mine and some other differences made me concerned. I always wanted one and I think I got carried away when i saw this...

    link to photos ;

    Many thanks,

    Regards, Les.

    M24 Stielhandgrenade

    Hi Les,

unfortunately your M24 shown is a bad Repro of the German M24.
It is a fake not really made to fool the collectors as some parts are obviously too clearly different from the original.
On your handle, the metal connecting-part to the head has the wrong shape, it is somewhat conical.

The font used for the inscription on the head is wrong.
The stampings of the maker's mark on the stick are fantasy and don't look like the original.
As I already wrote it was not made to fool as it is so obvious but your specimen was artificially altered to fool the buyer......

Well, it is difficult to say where all the fakes are sold, they are everywhere - all around

You can find good comparison pictures of nice originals on this forum.
    For instance :

Nice display you have there in your vitrine - you need a nice original M24 to complete it !!
    Kind regards,

    Ferdinand

this will help. I got caught with a so called Nebel M39 smoke gren a few years ago ( cost me a lot of cash ) but I keep it to remind me of my haste to buy,
it is not a bad thing to collect replica grenades as long as they are at the right price.
If you are a advanced collector of one or few items you can use the replicas to help buyer and dealers when not sure or need reference material to compare a susspect replica/fake. Regards Nick

Thanks a lot Nick I appreciate it it was the second time i saw an actual hand grenade and bloody hell you know its pretty convincing at first site. Its often said with award cases you smell them just to make sure about glue and so on, and this grenade has a smell like an old wine cellar anyhow im taking it back tomorrow, the dealer is fine he`ll give my money back thats no worries i know him, but in Australia you cant get grenades, my friend has 4 they are all good ones, he had them on here too, but he wont sell them

            Thanks again

            regards, Les
