    large dummy round??

    Hey everyone!
    Back off suspension,,so heres a new item,,
    I dont know what this is ,,can anyone help me out?
    It measures 4-1/4'' in diameter at the base x 35'' and weighs 28 pounds.
    is it a WWII 3'' MK6 50 Caliber Dummy Cartridge ?

    its stamped 1944 on it,,its in excellent condition,,and I practically stole it

          This is a drill round for the WWII-era 3" guns used on U.S. Navy ships. When I was a kid (c. 1980's) someone must have found a warehouse full of these things and released them onto the market, as you would see piles of them at of all the antique shows, flea markets, gunshows, etc., as well as seeing them offered in various army surplus mail order catalogs. I seem to recall the asking price back then of being around $20 to $25.
