    Mystery German Riegelmine

    Hi all,

I have this piece for quite some time now. But so far I couldnt identify the exact model. It looks a bit similiar to the Italian Riegelmine but this one has German WaA and code.

Anybody has a clue what model this is ?

    Thanks Jens

              Hi Jens,

Iam realy not sure if it was a German model at all. At least no Riegelmine 43. I dont have it handy but in an old "Waffen- Arsenal" booklet I found an Italian Riegelmine that looked the same.
Will try to locate the booklet.

Otherwise it realy looks like it was used as an oilcan indeed.

              Thank you, Jens

                  I still dont think its a Ri.Mi.43

measurements are 75 mm, 80 mm, 50 mm

                  Bests Jens

I now found the militaria magazine I mentioned earlier.

The pics show 3 models of Riegelmines, at the top is the Italian pattern which looks to be the model I have. Middle and bottom is RiMi. 43 and RiMi 44.

Does anybody know if the Germans made the Italian pattern Riegelmine ?

                    Thanks Jens

The top picture is the charge for the bottom casing, the middle picture would more likely be an Italian copy. Don't always go by the books you read as they make mistakes as well. You definitely have a modified riegel mine charge that shows the characteristics of it, the charge itself could be used without the casing it came in and used with the regular igniters could be adapted for a different use. The Italian bar mines they used during ww2 bearing in mind that the Germans used Italian equipment were the B2 and the V3 they were constructed quite differently.

If these sizes were correct then it would be a very small italian mine, if they were in CM then these are the correct sizes for a Riegel mine charge.

Of course I did a mistake in the measurements, should read CM.

                          Thanks alot, Jens
