I just picked up this "Nebelkerzen 39" munition box from a veterans estate. He must have used it to send home some items. I have a couple questions. First off, what exactly were "nebelkerzen" and how/when were they used? Secondly, under the mailing label is some painted lettering of which you can only see a little. This is a reach but any idea what it might be? Any common stenciling or designation the Germans would have used. I really don't want to take off the label. Thanks for looking- Ron

nebelkerzen are smook granates. Under the label I believe there well "nbk 39" This is a nice box and not very easy to find.Comment
