    Question about Eihandgranate 39

    Hi every body,

I have a question ... please forgive me in advance if it is a very stupid question but..
I've observed that on the Eihandgranate Mod. 39, the piece of metal between the grenade itself and the detonator can have different positions.

Sometimes, you can see it oriented to the top and sometimes to the down.

Is it a mistake ? or is there any special purpose or reason ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Regards

    To illustrate my question:

    Top oriented:

    Down oriented:

hi bruno, normaly they used the brennzünder with wings down on the egg 39 and with wings up on the M 43 stick handgrenade. the wings are for better grip when you pull off the blue fuzehead I.M.O

Ok, thanks very much for your two answers.

I forgot to read this paragraph on this nice web site. Shame on me

So to summarize, the two models exist without any special purpose except the fact that the down model can't be 'supported' by the M43 grenade.

        Am I right ?

            Anyway,

In the following configuration, there is no question at all about the way of setting the "wings"

            Thanks again to all.

                  Hi to all:
All said by Oberjaeger and Rittervomhuf is right, but not all wings can go upside or downside. There are wings for go upside and for go downside. The center part of the piece where the zinc fuse is screwed on is oriented always down. If the wing is an upside one the center part, the"valley" will be down and if the wing is a downside one the center part "valley" will be down too. Take two wings, one up and one down and compare them, you will se what I say. Also you can find eggs originally fitted with wings down and up.
