What's with the primer, is it sealed or what ?

Hi Jos,

as shown in the previous page of this post, the primers of KM flares usually have a thin film of metal on them (for waterproofness purposes and to avoid any oxydation of the primer - because of salt/water environment constraints).

In the same way, the KM flares boxes weren't made of paper but were thight zink boxes.

Here you go with a 3 letter code kriegsmarine brass flare and a P128 brass flare. I have seen these brass ones with luftwaffe markings too, for naval pilots. Will see if I can get a pic of one. All empty and INERT!
