yes, its a real one. unfortunately the head is in rough shape. you wouldnt get big bucks on this as a resell for an upgrade so dont go too crazy with money on it. if it doesnt have the pearl/pull string and no fuse assembly as well as having the typical "punched hole" in the bottom of the can I would say pay about $225.00 tops. theres really nothing you can do to improve the state of that head. it might be worth a bit more depending on if the numbers match on the head and it has the internal items as well as not having any "punched holes". real nice ones are getting hard to find now a days. It looks good to me, But better pics would give more of an indication of condition as it may well be better than it looks in the photos.
The red band of paint is a feature I havent seen ( not that this means they are not around! ) the ones in my collection have a darker green or what appears to be a varnish around the crimp to seal it and some appear to have had none at all.
Does anyone else have grenades with the red paint or paint other than green? I would be interested to see pics.

Only one thing is wrong with this grenade and because that thing I donĀ“t believe that the head could match the handle, Glenn. Handle is 1941 dated, Germans change from stenciled cans to not stenciled in 1940. The red band I have no idea of what it could be, it is too perfect for be only the primer layer who is revealed cause the green one is erased for the time.
