    Flak Vierling

It looks like a modified fast movement 20-mm-AA-quadruple gun "Mauser 1938".
Mabey a mid/end war type..used on submarines...( as I think it is on the picture)

    Just a opinion
    Never did see it before.

    ;-)

One of the most feared anti aircraft weapons encountered by low flying allied aircrews was the 2cm Flakvierling 38. Originally a Mauser weapon produced for the German Navy, the Flakvierling 38 entered production for the Army and Luftwaffe in 1940 and production increased to 410 a month in 11944. In August 1944, the Luftwaffe alone had 3605 in service and in February 1945 the total increased to 3851. All arms in service used the Flakvierling 38 and it was a very successful combination of four Flak 38 barrels on a converted Flak 38 carriage. The sight used was the Flakvisier 40 or 40A, but as the war ended, provision was being made for radar laying. Because of more barrels being used, the crew was increased to eight which was a detachment commander and seven men to operate the gun. In an emergency the guns could be worked by the detachment commander, the elevation layer and two ammunition numbers. The Flakvierling 38 was used for defending trains and was often emplaced on special Flak towers, as well as a variety of self propelled mounts.

"combination of four Flak 38 barrels on a converted Flak 38 carriage"

This is a very inaccurate statement.

The Flakvierling mount is vastly removed from the single gun mount.

The items shared between the two mounts:
      Flak 38, 2cm cannons & magazines
      Buffer mechanisms
      Various sights and optics.

The total weight of a Flakvierling 38 & SdAh52 is a shade over 3 times the weight of a single gun
      Flak 38 & SdAh51.

1 gun Flak 38=1,592 lbs. vs. 4,866 lbs for the 4 gun Flakvierling 38
      Or
      723kg vs. 2,212kg
