    1 ft high @ 100 yards??

I was shooting my k-98 the other day and I always seem to be about a foot or two high at 100 yards

does anybody have any adjustment or aiming tips to fix this?
Either I'm looking at the Ironsights wrong or something is amiss

    HELP!

A foot or two? Is it shooting one foot high, or two feet high? If it's all over the place you may want to shoot a box of well made ammo instead of surplus, just to eliminate it being an ammo issue. Do others shoot it the same way? As for your rear sight, is it adjusted (the sliding part) all the way back and the rifle still shoots high?

I'll check next time I'm out I couldn't tell because it was off the target and into the sand behind and above it!

I was shooting a box of the Mitchel's Mausers ammo

If it's the barrel could a gunsmith do a test on it?

and sorry this probably should be in the firearms forum....

Did it just start doing this or has it always been an accurate rifle? If it's new and you're shooting it right out of the box, you may want to just take it to a gunsmith to check it out (headspace, sight alignment, etc)

well i've never really shot it much before and the first time I sot it I never did really hit anything

maybe I could have a bud who shoots a lot see if he could hit something...

Figured it out ! the gunsmith at the local shop said that the gun is on a trajectory to 500 yards

              is this correct??

It had better not be "zeroed" at 500 yards. Is the sight adjustment slide set as far back as possible, and it still shoots high? You may want to take it to a different gunsmith and have him verify the sights are on and zeroed for 100 meters.

                  hmmm....

so there was no trajectory for the 98K the rifle at all?

he siad that the 98 was set to 500 yards and you didn't have to set it until you wanted to shoot farther, and, that it would be accurate enough to hit a man at any of the ranges....or something like that

You should be able to check yourself by boresighting the weapon.
