          Fudge.

          they destroyed a perfectly good long-delay clockwork fuse.

          those are highly, highly prized by collectors. I wonder why they didn't use it for practice and take it apart. They knew how to do it back then so why not do it now?

              In the area around Berlin, where I live we have still a lot of trouble with bombs, mines, grenades and so on. In some areas like "Bombtown" Oranienburg evacuations of the people are all day situations.

              If someone wants to build a new house or something he had to let check first if there are critical things in the earth. During war time "Heinkel-Werke" and "Auerwerke" (Gasmasks) were producing there. So it was an attractive bomb target for the Allies-
