Hi thought this may be of interest,a piece of shrapnel picked of the street in Cowes after the German raid on Whites shipyard where the local AA defences were augmented by the Polish destroyers Blyskawica and Grom in may 1942.It measures 3ins x 2ins and still retains its original grey paint,if any one has an idea what ordnance this came from i would like to know.thanks RMR

Heaviest raid on the Island wasn't it? Memory is a bit fuzzy on that, was years ago i read about it.
How thick is it? Looks rather thin.
My biggest find on the Island was a torpedo. The mid section of one, minus warhead and tail got washed ashore over where i lived then by Hampstead. Called the coppers over to have a look at it but as the warhead was gone it wasn't a problem. still it was way to heavy for me to try and salvage itCollecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
