Hi:
Here are some pics of a piece of a Confederate artillary shell that was given to me about twenty years ago by a couple who were Quakers and hated war.
(as if we all love it) Their great grandfather picked it up at high water mark at Gettysburg at the turn of the century 1902 --05 so they said. The engraving says, PIECE OF A CONFEDERATE SHELL FIRED FROM SEMINARY RIDGE TO HIGH
WATER MARK DURING LONGSTREETS ASAULT JULY 3RD 1863. The engraving
looks period and the bar is solid silver. The shell has been id'd as a 3 inch Reed Bolt (Confederate) Maybe not current, but interesting. Wonder what happened to the rest of it? Did it kill or wound any one? The sabbot is still on and the lans and grooves are very sharp.
