    WW1 French 'PNEUMATIC' Mortar Shell

    WW1 French 'PNEUMATIC' Mortar Shell.. I would like to know the French Ordnance name for this Mortar Shell.. The only name that I have ever seen in print for this one was WW1 French 'Pneumatic' Mortar shell..Enjoy BILL

            Bill that is a great shell. I hope I am in your will.

            I have spent years looking for information on the pneumatic and acetylene mortars and can find little. I kept forgetting to ask you, but I have baraged you with so many other questions. Apparently little survived except a few pics. Saunder's book on Weapons of the Trench War has a good picture of the French pneumatic mortar that is different from yours. There is a little info in there and Hogg's book on mortars. It appears the pneumatic mortars were patented by Brandt.

            I would be interested in any info you obtain in these. I also would be interested in info on the French Taupia mortar and the Brit 4" Model 1915. Somebody has to have a manual.
