Bomb ????

probably not the right place for it as its a bomb, but this is supposed to be German, might not be!!!, but does anyone have any idea's what this is its approximately 12" long and belong to friend of mine who bought it in France,

It doesn't look like any German bomb I've ever seen- are there any markings?

as far as I know no markings, and at 12 inch I am thinking maybe a ww1 bomb, at that size you could toss it out over the side, but who who's !!!!!!!!!! :-)

Thanks Dan, I do stand corrected. I'd never seen a German bomb with fins like that. I found a good link that has all the data on this weapon:

Apparently, these were carried in large numbers in containers and dropped all at once to saturate an area. I've seen bombs in these containers, but never alone.
