    Grenade sticks... German WWII or???

    Hi All.

I have just got these two sticks, which at first look should be for the german WWII stickgrenade. They look just like those two I have in my collection, but the thread at the top of the stick are different - they are smaller in diameter and the threads very different.

    Are these german WWII???

And if not, where are they from???

I can not upload pictures to the forum, so please take a look at these two links

At right on first foto is an "cud 1943" marked original stick, and this is at the bottom of foto two - just for comparering.

    Best regards

These are for late war threaded heads that started to be made 1943 i have 2 sticks like this and are most likely to be stamped "fcc44" allthough the top one with the dark wood handle looks wrong to me it should be crimped not screwd
If you dont want the middle one i have a head missing the stick if you want to sell it

Adam loves grenades. I of course agree with His statements. hey Adam, how do you feel about the pull string weights on all 3 examples? I dont care for the middle pull string at all. the ball, string and weight look weird. is it just me? what about "glass" weights? I dont feel good about them either. anyone?... Glenn

Its true i do love grenades :S The top string looks wront to me too thick and wrong shaped end but the 2 bottom ones are ok IMO i have one like the middle one and i think is synthetic string like rayon? and the glass ball i think is fine just late war economy changes

cant say for sure may have been 40,41,42,43 or 44 its just so hard to tell as IF the grenade has the string in you can never tell if the grenade you are looking at has been like that since it was in the factory or been pieced together by a collector but i would say it could proably

                .

                Hi reidmuller and Glenn.

                Thanks for your replys

I´m glad to hear that it´s an original stick in the middel of the picture - besides from being dark (almost black) the one at the top also stinks of tar???
The one in the middel have a faint stamp to it "f(c/o)? ?2" so maybe this thread was made already in late 1942?

About the pullstrings I must say that i´m sure that they are from the originaly sticks. I got those stikcks from one that working in an EOD unit, and after removing the head and detonator, the strings was put back in the sticks.

                Best regards

That is most interesting can you fry and get pics of the date? if it is 1942 dated it is the erliest i have ever herd of and is very unusual can you see any markings on the other?

                      .

I will try to get some good pictures of the date/makers mark, but i have to get a better camera for this.. my one isn´t good enough for this, as i said the stamps are fainted! But i will try to take some pictures with the one we got at my work, but this will first be on monday.

About the other, there are no markings at all!

                      Best regards

                        MM on the stick.

                        Hi reidmuller.

Here are a couple of links to pictures of the fainted MM and number on the stick. To me the rest of the number looks like the half of a "2".

                          Claus Thanks for the pics
i beleve that the half a 2 is actually a symbol as on mine the date is first and you can see a "4" near the metal and then after fcc a O i have also seen a triangle so i am 90% sure it is some sort of symbol
two of my sticks are marked "43fccO" and on all four heads i have the date comes first 43/44fcc

yes, once again I agree. the configuration is how I always see the fcc ('s) and I have also seen the "O" and the triangle on these sticks. what they mean... Adam, when you gonna pass on that tan M43 head? Glenn
