when an unlcjy person would trigger the mine, the cylinder to the left would jump into the air and explode. I dont know any details about the contents of it thow. In the german bouncing bettys they had ball berings to inflict maximum damage.

The VC and NVA used something similar in 'Nam. When triggered it would jump up about four feet then explode. Unfortunately,it was very effective.

I remember reading somewhere that British soldiers nicknamed a version of the German 'jumping' mine 'The Debollocker' for obvious reasons.
Apparently this particular type of mine was designed to demoralise, frighten and maim the opposition, rather than cause outright death.
          Regards,
          RAY.

A forum member informed me that the tube in my pictures most likely has nothing to do with this model of mine, that should contain a 60mm mortar, so I am posting more pictures of the tube to try to identify where it is from.

                Jean-Loup,

for me that seems to be a body part of an 60mm M83 illumination mortar ... the main part of the fuze is missing even as the tail part ...

                kind regards Mike
