    105 mm projectile help please.

    Hello,

Sorry for posting this here, but it was the only place I could think to put it!

I have just got what I believe to be a base - ejecting 105 mm projectile,I believe it is base - ejecting as the projectile is completely hollow and has a hole at the bottom.

The previous owner has repainted it to represent a 105 mm HE round, what I wanted to know was, does anyone know what colour the base - ejecting round should be?

As far as I am aware (feel free to correct me on this!),base - ejecting rounds carried either smoke or illumination, and I wanted to repaint the projectile in its correct colour.

Any webpages out there that could help me with this one,or any of our members?

If anyone wants to see pics please let me know!

    Kind regards,
    Andy

    Hello Andy,

Can you place some photos of the projectile? Maybe I am able to help.

    Greetings,

    Frans

      Hello Frans,

Here are some pics as requested.

As I mentioned,I don't think it was originally an HE round, but what do I know!?

      Kind regards,
      Andy

It's an american 10,5 mm M84 smoke shell.

Painting is not original and although it's not my area of expertise; i think the shell should have been grey with yellow markings.
Yellow band (indication of a smokeshell) is correct, although a bit too wide.

              Fuze should be a M57 P.D. or M54 TSQ.

                Many thanks Zunder.

Would anyone know the correct paint scheme for this shell?

Although,I'm tempted to strip it back to bare metal and leave it that way as the existing paint isn't original.

                Kind regards,
                Andy
