    Watch out, fake ammo !

    To all ammocollectors:

some guy in germany has had a whole bunch of metal stamps made, and has now started using them on all kinds of german ammunition, to "upgrade" the price.

Shellcases: 8,8 cm Flak 18, 10,5 cm le FH 18 and 15 s.FH 18 have been additionally stamped with markings like: "Aush" or "Man" or "Vp".
These cases were very rare and almost impossible to find, until now.

You will find them on internetauctions like e-bay, seller is most probably from german.

Also new "WaA" and "ÜB"stamps have been made, the last one will show up on shells, "WaA" on everything else, but non german "beute" material is more likely.

Complete fakes offered th elast few years:

    13 mm MG 13/131 rimless
2 cm Pzgr. 40, the copies often have an aluminium cap and a round bottom.
5 cm Pzgr. 40: aluminium cap and very badly made markings.
12,8 cm Pzgr.: solid copper drivingbands, with markings on the shell not on the base.

Pass the word and be carefull with what you buy.

      @Pionier,

one was sold on e-bay a few weeks ago, not sure if i can find the pictures.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the maker and seller shows up at next weekend Militariafair in Ciney, he had a table there before.

There's also a guy on eBay who operates under the name germanmil.

He was selling German ammunition out of the UK (not sure if it was legit or not), but he also had a nice sideband "lost shipment" scam going. Be careful with him and don't expect any support from eBay or PayPal in trying to recover lost funds from them, or him, since their "refund claim" time expires before the time they insist you wait to see if any overseas shipment will evenually arrive. That's a scam in of itself, but another story.

We've contacted the UK Fraud Bureau about this guy's activities, but with the amount he hustled us out of being about $100 U.S., they probably won't do much except create a file on him.

          Caveat Emptor

          Regards,
          Badger

There's a new one on offer on e-bay.

              http://cgi.ebay.de/10-5cm-LFH-18-Kar...QQcmdZViewItem

These cases all come from Finland, the "Man" has been stamped in recently to increase it's value.

Thanks. Hopefully someone's smart enough to figure out that's not a 65 year old stamp. Can anybody think of a way to convince the terrorists that these fake manufacturers are actually building American bullets or something, so they'll divert the car bombs in cafes to these fake-factories??? Sorry, that was bad.

There's not much we can do, well....: not legally anyway .

But we can spread the word, and hope people will stop buying them.

                      Zunder,

Once again thanks for the heads up on the ordnance fakes that are hitting the market.

It was only a matter of time before the fakers / a**holes out there clued into the the ordnance market.

You can watch trends on ePay come and go and start to see how items start out cheap then all of the sudden there is a feeding frenzy and the prices start to climb...this is when the fakers start flooding the market with their wears weather it be a canteen or a complex item like binoculars.
If the market is hot there is going to be a sale to someone who just does not want to miss out. If they get in at the right time they can make a mint.

All I can say is do your research and ask lots of questions. Also get on the fourms and read read read!!!! 9 times out of 10 you will get the answers you need here from collectors who know and are willing to share info.

they have been remarking 2cm flak cases for a few years now useing post war swiss ammo. also they have been faking canteens to for years taking post war bottles with no date and rzm marking them also doing it to mess kits!

not much left to fake now.

                        Dan
