    King tiger ammo boxes

I am not 100% fluent in Wehrmacht-ammunition-crate-label reading. But I'm going by the top line indicating these crates hold ammunition for the KwK43 which is only found on the Tiger II.

The unpainted one (dated March '44) is one of three that a good friend of mine found locally in Normandy in the late 90s. I bought them from him for 250 Francs each (about $50 each) and got them back to the states with a vehicle shipment a few years later. Neither of us recognized them at the time as being anything other than 88mm ammo boxes.

The painted one (dated November '44) came from Prague around the same time.

I thought they might be entertaining to see here.

    Hello Ken,

    Nice boxes.
I like the yellow stencil with the AZ23/28 (Pr.), Pr. is for Presstof if I remember correctly.

It's great to see the original colours for the shell type.

              Yellow for Sprgr (HE)
              White for Pzgr (AP)
Blue for Gr. Patr. HI (Hollow charge)
              Red for Pzgr40 (tungsten core)
