    2.8 cm schwere Panzerbüchse 41 (sPzB 41)

    Hi Guys,

I'm trying to learn something about the Panzerbüchse 41, but the info I've found is very limited.
Can't find any manual either, so maybe someone here knows more about it.

I've noticed that some of these guns have 2 big hooks on the panzer shield, but I don't know what they're .. they look like big mouse traps ..
    Any ideas ??

Another thing I can't figure out is in the 2nd picture..
Something electrical ..it's not a standard item ..

Yep, that torpedo like box is for the optic sight. Those hooks...won't they be for towing or moving the gun?

The hooks are attached to a spring, so they're under tension..still can't figure out how or for what these were used..

I am thinking that perhaps the hooks are somehow used for locking the gun together in a folded position for transport, especially since they are spring loaded. They could also be used for transport when the gun was dismantled like shown in the picture below.

Of the "period" pictures I have seen of the sPzB 41, the hooks only seem to appear on the shield when the light-weight carriage is being used. The hooks are not present when the gun is mounted on the rigid heavy duty carriage.

Could be ... still haven't found how these hooks were used ..

Also the optical sight ..container looks rather big ..I've only seen 2 different sights sofar .. a foldable one and a straight tube .. so, there must be also a bigger one then .. I've seen one with a rubber eye cup, but it was on a post war Panzerbuchse, so I don't trust on that.

Anyone knows if there is a manual .. ?
