KM Coastal Artillery M43 cap -- opinions please

    Hello All,

Would appreciate some thoughtful comments on this KM Coastal Artillery M43 cap that I recently purchased. For me, after much study, it was a "one-looker," but I realize that I don't have the experience with Coastal Artillery, or caps, to make that call. Would appreciate input.

If anyone wants to see it at the SOS in a few days, for an up-close inspection, I can bring it along.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the rotated views. Until the WAF updates it's picture loading capability, with ability to rotate photos, I'm at a loss.

The cloth seems to be a "reversed " OFF gabardine cloth ?
It could have been made period but post war as well regarding
the bad quality of sewing ?
The badges are resewn IMO , when ?

The Kriegsmarine contracted a wide range of uniform items from French makers: this could be one of these items.

I’ve had a couple of knowledgeable folks look at this cap in person, at the SOS. French manufacture was suggested, and the quality of construction is actually really first rate. I’m hoping that that individual will provide some of his interesting insights, for all to read here.

I want to thank Douglas for letting me check out this cap at the SOS show, the cap is without a doubt 100% original the quality of the cap is quite good with some non standard construction techniques
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Many thanks to Lenny for examining this cap in person. He shared some very interesting details with me, that I wouldn't have known to look for, and pointed out some unique aspects of construction. Further, having met Lenny for the first time, he is a real gentleman.
