Interesting. The one you posted wasn't there, at least when I checked. A lot of 14 of those sold for €240. I am a bit skeptical. They have shown some great pictures of other tallies.
All of those who have read the pinned thread of cap tallies/Mützenbänder know of the infamous Belfast Fake. This is what probably has your "spider-sense" tingling as well. I looked under tally, tallies, and schlachtschiff for keywords.

Quite interesting. I hope the seller got a great deal. item 24-0788
On another note, a metalfaden version of the Gneisenau sold for €560.
Some seller got a handsome rate of return.

Without a doubt that's the H.M.S. Belfast gift shop reproduction. Looks like it's been washed or distressed as well.

Ratisbon's sent me an email and changed the description to replica which is nice. Usually we are ignored.

They have another Scharnhorst for sale that is period, the one with the two other period tallies.
