Hi guys. Just picked this up today. Just wondered what you thought and what exactly is it used for?? It is in perfect working condition. Thanks, Mark.

Looks like an Alpina artillery chronograph. Made between 1940 and 1943. They were used, for example, to tell the time between firing and impact of artillery shells among other uses.

    Happy to help

      Hello Cpmil,
A little history from a NAWCC Bullentin, Feb. 1995. "The watch is known as a Swiss Complicated Military Watch. The watch movement is Swiss. The Trademark w/ the triangle and circle is known as Kochmann as being registered in Germany in 1927 and in 1935 by Alpina (Karl Kochmann, Clock & Watch Trademark Index, 1988, General Revised Edition, Antique Clocks Publishing, Concord, Ca, 1988)
Alpina was the brand name of an interesting watchmakers' collective, Union Horlog'ere, SA, founded in Bienne, Switzerland in 1883, based on a cooperative membership of leading clock and watch manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers."

Couple of images from one in my collection for comparison. Please excuse the sideway images. Can't seem to turn them.
