Is it original or just looks the same?

Original box indeed, but for general use, not in U Boats only. If you are very lucky, someone might have turned around the metal plate to hide the name. I would unscrew it and check the backside!

I have 4 utilized boxes in the collection one of them have some marks from chalk when you look carefully you can read the name of the previous owner,....these boxes were issued by the navy so if you left the navy you have to gave them back in the same state,.......There is no easier way then using chalk or maybe crayons or as Glaser mentioned using the backside of the plate,.....in your case it seems if the screws are not recessed in the metal plate,.... is that the case?, yes i would unscrew the plate maybe the name has been hidden on the other side, good luck nice find
Btw sometimes these boxes has been dated your specimen is a typical wartime product, zinc fittings
