very rare Coastal Artillery specialist badge

Looks like a Pineapple. Anyone seen one of these Coastal Artillery specialist badges ?

Anyone know what it is for ?

Something to do with the actual Coastal Artillery gun crew or leader ?

It is on a dark bottle green backing so presumably early war or pre-1939 ?

Was brought back from Italy in 1945 with a whole lot of other Coastal Artillery insignia. Sadly many of the items have been chewed by the moths since then,

    Chris

p.s. all the items in the picture frame which were displayed in an RSA for many years, are KM Coastal Artillery on a dark green or field grey backing

    Hello Chris.

    Beautiful display.

The pineapple is a specialist badge for cooks with training for making tropical fruit salads .....

It's a specialist badge for Gun chief of coastal guns with trading in the unit. When I read Angolia right it was introduced 1940.
I like the way of embroidery very very much. Super.

    Regards
    Christian

Christian, that insignia is not the same, the spealty insignias should be in red not in yellow, and the design is a little different with only 3 flames up to the bomb, not 7 like this one. Yellow insignia with green backing should be a career insignia, but not know for me, never seen before.
Collector of Kriegsmarine and Küstenartillerie items

        Eduardo.

For sure you are right. I have not paid attention to the color and number of flames.

So I fall back to the fruit salad option...

The Specialist´s insignia for Geschützführer Küste pictured in Die Deutsche Wehrmacht – Dienstgrade und Laufbahnabzeichen der Kriegsmarine by Henner and Böhler has five flames! Red on blue (or red on white for summer tunic).
As this one is hand made, could it be just and "artistic" difference or even a misstake?

The closest match I could find is the LW Bomb Armorer insignia.
Very similar with crisscross stitching but the LW one has only 6 flames.

There is no equivalent that I could find for Heer or KM patches.

              Cheers,
              Larry
