SOS bringback - KM Celestial Globe

    Good evening gents,

Just wanted to share a pic of an item that capped off my trip to Louisville and the SOS last week.

This is the exact globe shown by Andelo in Post #7 of his Thread on KM celestial globes. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...l+globe&page=3

It was bought from Christie's by a collector who owned a museum in France. The collector has since passed away and the contents of the museum have been sold, starting I believe in 2013. This is where the white-top Kaleu's hat you see came from as well (made in Breda).

These globes are really a magnificent piece of instrumentation.

    Regards!

    Bob

Unfortunately the Eagle has been removed and the area where it was has been painted over (didn't show-up well in the pics).

            Very nice!

I saw one of these at auction last year and was tempted.

Your Kreta map is a beauty also...

Thanks for coming by and commenting gents - I appreciate it

Eduardo - the globe was going to be put out on my friend's table. I saw it while still boxed-up and told him he could keep it boxed-up because it was going home with me.

It wasn't until Sunday afternoon that I realized it was the Christie's globe.
