Yup, a keeper! Excellent J. C. Maedicke gold bird in aluminum. Is it only me? they used to be fairly scarce but there seems to be a lot of these popping up these days...

Dont worry about my senile mumblings, just thinking out loud...When I got back into the hobby a few years back and started concentrating on summer birds for a while you didnt see many Maedicke birds (or Schwerin birds for that matter) in good shape very often and they werent cheap. Lately they've been showing up very regularly: yours must be the 4th or 5th Maedicke in top shape to be posted here in the last month or so! Someone must have found

No, I collect a bit of everything but, I've been like a scratched record and often get stuck on the same topic for a while. First it was summer eagles (now stagnating at 48 types/variants) then Schleischer adlers until they dried up too and I'm now into single mounts with occasional ventures into badges & other stuff

The Schwerin's are harder to find and more expensive too, for the 10 that you will find on the market you will catch one Schwerin if you are lucky

Oh so the Schwerin are a lot rarer variant of the summer eagles then.. what sort of money do they fetch ? I know it all depends on condition etc but just roughly...

If you can find a Schwerin in nice condition like the one you posted made by Maedicke you have to think in the price range of €200 euro and maybe more if i have to believe the auctions from the last 4/5 years,...i'm still looking for a Schwerin but i would not pay more then €150 euros max
