Need help identifying Zielhohe stopwatch

Hello to all,
Was hoping to get some information regarding this kriegsmarine marked stopwatch. I'm trying to get better photos but any information regarding what this was used for would be greatly appreciated! I have not received the watch so yet so I'm not even sure if the outer case comes off! Hope someone can explain what this is and why it has an iris?

They say:

"Description:
Outer case patent Carl Zeiss Jena, watch case and mpvementof Minerva, 19”’ like in torpedo timers, back of the case Kriegsmarine registr. no.: ‘Eagle M 1037’.
The removable and interchangeable dial is calibrated for different anti aircraft canon calibers. The case has a diaphragm to be set for different height for the exploding shells. It is used to calibrate the time fuses for the desired heights.

Specifications:
The patent declaration including working drawings is of 20. Juni 1916, signed by Carl Zeiss! It is made during WW I. for the first air crafts attacks.

The 10,5 cm u-boat and torpedoboat canonwere on these boats: Typ 1A (2 boats with 1 canon each), Typ IX (ca. 200 boats with one canon each), Typ XB (8 Boats). Since 1943 these heavy canons were removed from the boats and used for the coast and replaced by 2 cm or 3 cm Flak."

Beautiful clock, look forward to see more pictures. It looks similar to the AM.17 clock. The AM.17 is an optical device used for targeting, the clock was a part of the set.

Just received the stopwatch....good and bad news....works great....in beautiful condition...however the part where the face plates are interchangeable...looks like someone forgot to replace it with one ? The face of the stopwatch is just brass with two notch post where I assume a face would be applied? I took it apart (simple to do if you have the proper size screw drivers and patients). Take a look at the photos!
