Box used in a Uboat ?

Do you know such boxes and do you think it is related to UBoat 548 ?

It's box for a lubricating device, might well have been used on a uboat, then again the box may have been produced in the 1970's and the u548 reference might be nothing to do with a submarine

German submarine U-548 was a type IXC U-boat.

She was laid down at the Deutsche Werft (yard) in Hamburg as yard number 369 on 4 September 1942, launched on 14 April 1943 and commissioned on 30 June with Kapitanleutnant Eberhard Zimmermann in command.

U-548 began her service career with training as part of the 4th U-boat Flotilla from 30 June 1943.

She was re-assigned to the 2nd Flotilla for operations on 1 April 1944, then the 33rd Flotilla on 1 October.

She carried out four patrols and sank one ship.

She was sunk in April 1945 by depth charges from American warships southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Im pretty sure the box is german WWII but indeed the inscription may have nothing to do with the submarine even if the box color make me think to kriegsmarine

can you post a picture of the opening/closing system in front of the box and are there any inscriptions/stamps on the left or right outer side?

Im in holidays. I will post photos of opening system in 2 weeks. Theres no other marking than the one on the top of the box. Thank you.

Hello,

Here additional pics with the opening system. The box has holes on eaches sides of the bottom, probably in order to be screwed somewhere. I hope it helps in the identification.
