Recently we discovered a photo of a familymember in what seems to be a Kriegsmarine-uniform (or is it Heer)? The Heck badges tell us he was a Schreiber (Yeoman). But apart from that we don't know much about his history.
He told us he was picked from the streets of Holland for the arbeiteinsatz, but is it possible he was put to work in the Wehrmacht? And why isn't there a eagle with swastika on his sidecap? Perhaps because he wasn't German but Dutch? I've checked the Dutch archives (National Archives, Red Cross) but they haven't got any information or a dossier of him. Information requests at ITS and the Dutch NIOD are still pending.
Can you guys perhaps tell me more or where to search any further?
