Good evening, as promised, here are the rest of the various KM cap tallies. They all came from the same source. As with the last batch, all of them are UV negative, all are made of flexible material. All of them show age wear or were removed from some kind of photo album or display.

Most are full length (except for the WW1 examples / Mine Tally).

Any help or input is much appreciated in advance, thank you!

              Good evening,

all except one are ok, period and standard issue tallies. The one which is not is the fairly small lettered Admiral Scheer. It's a privately purchased souvenir tally / children's cap tally.

              Rgds

Very nice. All are very nice and period as Marine HJ said.
You have some very nice ones, some are pretty popular and desired units; have you built this collection or did you acquire in a bulk purchase?
I am just curious. Very nice collection. Many are metal thread examples which are in great condition. They are subject to fading and discoloration if not properly stored. Your collection seems like it has agreed with the storage arrangements it has been in. Very nice collection as said before.

                Regards,
                JustinG

I acquired all of these in a bulk purchase. All came from the same collection and were stored in a shoe box for a very long time. Protected from the elements.

I appreciate the input everyone =)

Here is just one example of how the camera will play tricks with you. In hand, and from my collection, it is bright blue with white letters. Same talliy and in hand the blue is even brighter blue and letters whiter. Just need to play with the camera settings.

This exact problem exists with KM badges. You photograph it incorrectly and it will not look anything like the badge in hand. Usually it looks better in hand than what collectors photograph as they try to sell the badge to their detriment.

Just to remind everybody, best on badges to use camera settings macro, steady platform or timer, natural light, shadow box or manipulate a piece of cardboard to keep direct light from the sun off the badge.

I checked your facebook posting about the tallies and since you referenced WAF and this thread, I just want to be clear about 4 of the tallies.

                      1. The Scharnhorst tally must be posted in its entirety not just the name for final authenticity by this forum. There is no way, as Justin said, to determine this from just the name. So laid out, entire tally, end to end. Otherwise, it must be considered a reproduction sold in HMS Belfast.

                      2. The Scheer tally is a children's tally (or souvenir tally) as Dani stated. These are very common tallies relatively but that said, I like them since it reflects the mood the public at the time (pre-war IMO). You often see them on children's sailor caps, a common fashion of the day.

                      3. IMO the first KM tally is a souvenir reproduction post war sold in stores, maybe in Kiel or Hamburg. Something like that. Not meant to deceive anybody.

                      4. SEEBERUFSFACHSCHULE school tally may or may not be a youth or KM tally, we need further evidence through better photos. Probably KM I guess, but like to see the photos.

I personally have no issue with advertising these tallies here since you have some great examples in that lot and I want to do everything I can to encourage tally collectors, we are a small group, but tallies are very interesting to research as evidenced already by the great info posted by Christian about the SEEBERUFSFACHSCHULE tally. I certainly did not know any of that.

Agreed 100% thats why im trickling out all of the other tallies first. The bad KM example has gone in my reproduction box.

Im going to take pictures of the SEEBERUFSFACHSCHULE & Scharnhorst tallies and post them here before I do anything else with them. Pics coming soon. Just been swamped with the holidays
