    Please opinions on some tallies

I'm not very comfortable about kunstseid tallies after pictures from some fake tallies I saw here some times ago, and I'd like to know your opinions about these tallies below:

This tally has short letters like a fake KM tallie someone posted here some time ago. There was a real short letters version for KM tallies or all are fakes?

      Hi John,

I have the same impression about they, something don't looks good for me. But there's a recognition point to distinguish they correctly from good tallies?

      Thank you for your opinion.

Look at the pinned Mützenband tab. There is several good discussions regarding construction as well as specific examples posted of the construction style. Look at the reverse lettering. This will help you with your future purchases.
Many of the dealers on ebay are getting smart not wanting to guarantee originality.
This allows them to sell known fakes and you have no recourse to ask for a refund. "Let the buyer beware."

        Regards,
        JustinG

Correct Justin, due this reason I'm asking about these tallies here. I'm seeing there some absurds, including known fakes with a "COA"

And it's not the 1st "Belfast-Scharnhorst" tally I saw being sold there by expressive values.

Sorry it has taken so long. In any case, the two reproductions above, and I have no idea about the KM tally, were most probably made as souvenirs, not to deceive anybody. In other words, in a gift shop someplace.

They are easily distinguished due to the bright dots on the reverse not on period tallies.

Those dots are a giveaway for these types of souvenir tallies.

Yes, I noted the fake Belfast fake with a DN COA. Remember, it was not that long ago that these were considered period (I even bought one--the first tally I ever bought by the way) and not sure many dealers even understood the problem.

I think it was Jody on this forum that first identified the source of those tallies, namely aboard HMS Belfast in the gift shop.

It is a reason that a collector would never buy a cut, equal length on both sides of Scharnhorst, tally, since it could be period or not, no way of telling. Only full length Scharnhorsts, 100 cms or greater IMO.

            John

              Exactly John,

I think was just this strange woven pattern at reverse that caught unconsciously my attention and make me suspect about these tallies and the fact there's no "dots" around letters at obverse.

Sorry, I had no idea the fake "Scharnhorst-Belfast" tally was discovered a relatively few time ago, when I started to collect tallies this fake tally was pointed here at various threads. That's explain the existence of this "COA" for it.

Thank you again for these informations.

About KM tally I posted, it looks suspect to me too. Here another with the same lettering height and a suspect woven pattern at rear side:
