Das Boot - Jürgen Prochnows Leather coat

Hello Guys,
a U-boat commanders leathercoat was sold yesterday. For 9500 Euros!!!
It was Jürgen Prochnows "costume" in the movie "Das Boot" (1981).
Probably more than one would pay for a original KC-winners-coat.
Looks like a pre 45 made piece.

Anyone can explain how a london tailor label gets into a german film production leather coat? I would have expected a Bavaria film studio one.

Bermans and Nathans were THEE British costumiers pre 1990...sharing stock within the industry..they had many original uniforms in their inventory.
They are now just known as Angels.
Theaterkunst Berlin was Das Boots main supplier.

A few years back Angels had a auction and there were several original German tunics and lots of original WW1 WW2 british and US uniforms all cheap. i was just original uniforms do not fit modern actors so why store them
