and a early brown pleated pockets,

Yes British with modified waistband and shoulderstraps removed.

But when was it modified ? Period or POW ?
Many POW post war were wearing GB BD jackets , modified or not ...

Battledress twill

Interesting anecdote regarding captured British Battledress' used by the KM in Lorient has it that the first set of garments distributed to crews fell apart on board the subs from contact to body heat after the first wearing due to the fact they had been previously doused with acid by the retreating Brits...
Regarding this pair ,these were usually seen with KM buttons, shoulder boards, and in some instances a loop for an Iron Cross...
These look very fresh for a POW example if German used at all, however hard to rule out direct connection...
