I agree. To be submariners, they are well shaved. Perhaps the heroic winners have also supplied them with soap and razor blades ...

I don't remember which U-boat but the caption did state surrendering submariners...

Very interesting pictures of variations in the details of kriegsmarine leather jackets !
But also interest to me as a gun collector is the rare riesing M50 sub machine gun on the far left in the first picture . Even more interesting and something I never saw before in a situation such as this is the gun in the hands of the sailor second from the left , he has a Sid by side double barrel shot gun ! All the military shotguns that I have seen before aboard ships guarding prisoners were the 12 gauge single barrel pump action shot guns .
