if the shield is plastic, its always post-45 as during the period until 1945 celluloid was used.

Does this includes only makers or also distributors marks and only "line offciers" ?.

I assume this statement is not valid for KM administration caps as we have seen several ones with maker or distributor marks ?

Thanks again for the updates. One further query - is there any simple way to tell the difference between celluloid and plastic (without destroying the liner!)? I gather from other threads that celluloid tends to crack over time, and plastic tends to "bubble" - which celluloid does not. I've made a point of looking at as many caps as I can access, and while I find that it is pretty easy to tell which is celluloid and which is plastic, wiith, say, 70%, there is about 30% that I really can't what they are. Tips would be appreciated. Cheers. Keith

            Hi,
Just wanted to say thanks again to all those who contributed to this thread. I returned the visor, listing the concerns, and the dealer in question got back to me very quickly, agreed that the concerns were legitimate, and offered a refund. I couldn't ask for more. I really do appreciate the help from the members here though. Although I "felt" it was bad I wouldn't have been able to articulate why, and would probably have ended up with a less than happy resolution!
            Best regards
            Keith

Ouch it does look very close to the one that I had, and which universally got the thumbs down. And to Bilbert, yes I know that Geiger have been around for ages, but if you study the threads, you'll see that no-one has seen a cap that is positively known to have been issued during the TR period with a Geiger logo. The logo is however seen in Bundesmarine caps (and those altered to look like TR). A postwar Geiger example, with near-identical logo, is reproduced in picture #60 on this thread:
