Opinions on a Foul Weather Hat and a Donald Duck

    Greetings,
I do not come to the KM section very often. I recently acquired these two from an old collector. I am dubious of both and would appreciate some expert opinion.

There are some things I like about this hat. The tie string appears to be period correct and the material is what I would consider correct. I do not like the tag.

I am fairly certain that it is not 3rd Reich period as it does not have a removable cover. The collector I got it from thought it was Weimar period.

The hat top is in four pieces and some shade tree collector used glue to attach a previous cap tally.

I also do not have much confidence in this cap tally.

                        Hi mwiles,
The fact that this tellermutze doesn't show a removable top doesn't mean that is not a WW2 model.
The earlier model have the removal top, but the late war model do not.
The cap tally is fake, the kokarde looks ok but it would be early model (so it is not coherent with the late model construction of this teller).
The wool is too blueish, all of mine teller are darker.
The presence of this spring around the top cover doesn't make me feel comfortable with it.
the two "V" shaped threads on the backside of the hat are missing (i am talking about the thread that should keep on place the cap tally).

                        Hope that this help you.

                        Best,
                        Luca

Southwester is a classical original one and the tag is ok .
The Tellermütze is a private one ,period or not but the heavy quality of the cloth
is a good sign to be an early one ?
The colour is not that dark but why not ?
The V shaped back threads seems to be simply "gone" with traces of them .
                          Nick
