    White top cover/summer tellermutze/or...?

    Gents,

In a lot with some Reichs and Kriegsmarine stuff I encounterd this piece. The lot was not exclusive RM/KM and in the end this piece got me puzzeled.

It's a white cloth tellermutze like garment, I looked like the early one piece Kaiserliche marine Summer/tropical tellermutze. But those seem be made from a thicker cloth and have a sweetband like folded rim.

But it has the typical KM construction, a top with rim a 4 piece "underside" and a 1 piece rim.
but the inside has not the neat German finish, you'd expect to find on German headgear.
Could it be a summer cover that also covers the rim where the tally goes?
It's also quite big, I have size 58, this will be a 60 (what would make sense when wrapped over a "regular size" tellermutze).

    all help is appreciated!

    thank you,
    Michiel

ps. the sizes indicated are in centimeters.

Hello Michiel, this is the "White cap for duty on ships" used in the Reichsmarine and in the early yeras of the Kriegsmarine.

    This is mine.

      Hi,

As I can see white bands: Does it have its own "frame" (and if yes, how it is constructed) or the normal cap frame was used ?

      Regards
      Christian

Hello Eduardo, thank you very much! Mine has indeed traces for a chinstrap.
I'm getting this one some insignia.

@ Christian, it has no real frame, very soft.

Christian, the cap band is reinforced with thick piece of cloth.
