THANKS JOE FOR SHARING THAT WAS A VERY COOL WAY OF DISPLAYING IT,LOOKING LIKE IT WAS IN ONE OF THEIR SUB PENS. WHEN I WAS A KID THEY HAD IT OUTSIDE AND IT LOOKED ROUGH. NICE TO SEE IT SO PRESERVED NOW,WISH THEY HAD SAVED MORE OF THEM INSTEAD OF USING THEM FOR TARGET PRACTICE.

EXCELLENT VIDEO! Thanks so much for sharing. I've always wondered what the museum was like. I'll probably never visit, so this video is the next best thing!

        Thanks again!

Very nice! I was there 2 weeks ago (for the behind the scenes tour) but it was so dark (and no flash allowed) my photos were all too blurry. Thanks for taking the time to do this !

I am in search of a member who is going to visit the U-505, I am looking for pictures of the room indicator plates op top of each of the powerless phones on board, that are missing in this picture.

I visited U-505 with my family in November, 2015: no ban on taking photos inside the boat (but they do ask you not to use the flash).

BTW: per our tour guide, many of the "German" equipment ID plates, levers, markings, etc. are reproductions because a large percentage of such ID items were removed by souvenir hunters (particularly US navy guys) prior to the boat becoming a museum item in the 1950's.

and some of the items on display were never used on this boat or have any connection with U-505
