Reichsmarine.....Kriegsmarine?

Can someone explain to me why this tally is marked the way it is. When did the Reichsmarine become the Kriegsmarine? When did the style of lettering change with regard to the Kriegsmarine designation?

Well this is mismarked from the dealer.
This is an AustroHungarian tally.

German navy tallies would have S.M.S Seiner Majestäts Schiff


There is a wonderful pinned thread, page 9 and 10 deal with this.

Definitely worth checking out, probably the best detailed thread regarding Mützenband / Naval cap bands.

By the way, those AustroHungarian tallies are highly sought after. Some are quite rare and very expensive.

From my experience, German tally collectors are the most interested in these tallies and watch for them closely.
