Leather boots with Kriegsmarine M-markings, opinions please

Leather boots for Kriegsmarine are hard to find. What are your opinions over this pair? The actual boots are quite alright I Guess, but how about those M-markings under? Expert opinions over these markings are most welcome. The real thing or homemade scratching?

Hello, I only have seen a pair of boots KM marked, they are at home, they have the typical KM depot stamps inside the leg and no special markings on the sole. IMO these are not specific for KM, but really don't know the meaning of those M markings.

Agree with Eduardo, my guess is that the owner just engraved the M because this was the first letter of his name or surname, in order to identify and find back his boots after getting cleaned or repaired by someone else for example.

If you take a careful look, it is not an M only but LM. Perhaps a maker's logo or the owner's initials, as mentioned.
