    Kriegsmarine officer eagle opinions.

This eagle is on a Coast artillery officer tunic I have.
What is not often to see is the "not centered swastika" but I like the rest of the eagle very much.
Only a sloppy hand sewing ?

    Thanks for any opinions.

    Regards

    Derek

IMO if a tailor had made this during the war, he was shot instantly!

Hi and thanks for your answers.

So this breast eagle is a copy without any doubt ?

We are collectors, not scientist. Unless you find this example in a wartime or postwar sales catalogue, or you have it in crisp detail on a wartime picture, or you have it from an 100% untouched uniform, we can speak about "without any doubt". But I would not add that one to my collection, feel free to listen at what fellow collectors are saying about it.

              Thanks for your answer glaser.
I know the history on this uniform so I was hoping all were original sewn on. I was thinking this eagle was periode and hand stiched with the swastika a but out of fokus. I had over many years had hand bullion cap eagles and breast eagles. They had a bit sloppy sewing on the swastika as well. Periode eagles they were.

                  Very interesting tread glaser.
Like on my breast eagle, I see several hand sewing on the swastikas are bad and not symetric

IMO a good one . I'm not surprised at all to see a swaz like this one , a bit
strange but hand made , don't forget it !
I already had some embroidered cap eagles which were so ugly !
And not only the swaz !

                          Hello,

Not the prettiest eagle but I have no problem with the construction. War time produced piece IMHO.

another example of a sloppy swastica, the wreath has already been pointed out as bad.

The eagle is fine, for my money. Many collectors expect perfection but these were hand made, and many variances exist. Not a problem for the swaz, and not all tailors turned out exemplary pieces, and not all craftsman turned out meticulous examples.
